Training Coordinator

Orchard Village is looking to hire a full time Training Coordinator. 

The training coordinator will plan, coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive competency-based training program for agency employees. Provide and manage DHS-approved training for Direct Support Professionals and QIDPs. Determine training requirements for employees in all departments. Conduct in-house classes and seminars. Coordinate and facilitate new employee orientation for all new agency staff. Coordinate the use of outside trainers, professional classes, seminars, and online training opportunities. Act as a support to staff in Programs, Assurances and/or Entitlements Departments. Maintain a team-based approach in working with people receiving services, employees, family members, volunteers and others. Support quality enhancement processes and assist with the collection and reporting of data. Pay: $60,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year

Training Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Maintain certifications and teach Crisis Prevention Instruction (CPI), First Aid/CPR, and IL Department of Human Services (DHS) curriculum.
  • Analyze learning needs of employees in consultation with department directors and supervisors; address performance gaps; plan and deliver training curricula and materials to meet those needs.
  • Provide employees with current techniques and information relative to their assignments to improve their skills and capabilities; receive technical training in new areas; research and locate new training materials/training aids to meet the continuing training needs of the organization.
  • Stay informed as to relevant skill and qualifications required by employees for effective performance and circulate requirements and relevant information to the organization as appropriate.
  • Research availability of a variety of relevant courses offered by external organizations or individuals.
  • Develop and implement methods to evaluate effectiveness of training provided.
  • Lead new employee orientation training.
  • Conduct trainee orientation for online DSP training by providing a computer and materials, answering questions, providing support, and signing trainee in and out of training.
  • Teach and facilitate all required annual training of staff.
  • Act as the agency liaison for Infinitec and the Social Services Coalition Meetings.
  • Enroll and train new staff in the Therap case management system.
  • Maintain employee training records; manage Therap’s Training Management System (TMS); produce reports as needed.
  • Support the agency OIG liaison by submitting requested documents to the Illinois OIG investigators and coordinating investigations of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of clients, as needed.
  • Ensure that OIG recommendations are implemented.
  • Develop, publish, distribute, and promote a monthly training schedule.
  • Support the RN-Trainer in the record keeping, scheduling, and timely implementation of all medication administration classes/sessions.
  • Provide administrative support and auditing of documentation in Therap for quality reports and identify training needs.
  • Process and submit training billing to DHS.
  • Assist QIDPs in applying for and maintaining QIDP certification.
  • Act as chair or co-chair for the Human Rights Committee, the Compliance Committee, and other committees as assigned.
  • Represent Orchard Village in grant funded work and Communities of Practice (CoPs) as applicable.

Training Coordinator Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or social services
  • Two years’ experience working in the field of developmental disabilities (including at least one year working directly with persons with developmental disabilities)
  • State ofIllinois QIDPcertification required
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
